I know it’s been a LONG time since I last wrote.
I hope this finds you all well. I promise that no matter how much time goes by I will always be back to share more. I’ve been going through so many changes as a new mom and finding time to fit it all in has been my biggest growth experience. Where there’s a will there’s a way and there is time…it’s just a matter of creating it.
The last time I posted I had just started a new job at a wonderful health food store and company called Earth Fare. Well, after a couple of months of working part-time, they asked me to work as their full-time Wellness Manager. It’s been a wonderful position for me because I have learned SO MUCH about all of the different supplements and nutritional products on the market and in the industry and world. I am so happy to be able to share what I’ve learned and continue to learn as I grow, develop and learn even more. I have had the fortunate opportunity of trying some of the most beneficial products available that I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to try and experience if it weren’t for my work. I am so passionate about nutrition and wellness, obviously, and it makes me so happy I can, now, share even more to hopefully help you on your path and journey of growing well in body, mind and spirit with each breath you breathe…
I’m still praying for more time with my wonderful son throughout all of this. I love working but I also hope to find even greater work/life balance as time goes by. However, I am so grateful for exactly where I am today.
With all that being said, I’d like to share one of the products that has helped me most greatly over the past several months.
I know one of the challenges so many people struggle with is sleeping well throughout the night.
I have tried several different products, including, melatonin, which, you may be familiar with. While melatonin is ok on an occasional basis, it’s important to not take melatonin on an ongoing, long-term basis because continual use of melatonin signals to the brain that it doesn’t have to produce as much on its own. That means a person could, essentially, become dependent on taking melatonin if they use it too much. I’ve also tried Gaba and L-Theanine, both of which do work, however, I found that neither was as calming as a product I am most passionate about. That product is Passion Flower. If you haven’t ever heard of Passion Flower and you have trouble sleeping at night this is the product for you. I found that neither Gaba or L-Theanine had nearly the calming effect of Passion Flower. I love that Passion Flower is sourced directly from an herb. There is something inherently calming and therapeutic about that alone.
Truly, I would say almost 99% of the time I have taken Passion Flower it has worked. It does not have a drugging effect and will not cause drowsiness. It is simply calming and relaxing. I have even taken it in the wee early hours of the morning when I have been up with the baby, at times, and not gone back to sleep (because the baby didn’t go back to sleep) and I’ve gotten up and gotten ready for work and gone about the day full of energy and vitality, but, just calmer and more relaxed than I would have been otherwise if I had not taken it.
I’ve only tried one brand of Passion Flower but I really love it. It’s Solaray pictured below.
I know Gaia Herbs also makes a wonderful tincture of Passion Flower, as well. You can find any of these products via Amazon.com or at your favorite health food store. Bottom line is if you need something to help you get your zzzzzs…Passion Flower is your potion.
Ok, so, again, I promise I will be back sooner than later. Next up, I will share about my favorite green superfood powder. Superfoods are so important to incorporate into your diet each and everyday. It’s very hard to do that without a holistic superfood product. I’m excited to share with you about my favorite green powder soon…
